The Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) acts strategically to represent and defend the institutional and commercial interests of the sector that plants trees for industrial purposes and restoration, in Brazil as well as abroad.
It works to foster growth and competitiveness in this production chain, with guidelines focusing on sustainability and combating climate change, incentives to implement infrastructures that support development, promotion of products from this sector, and defending access to new markets.
Ibá works to promote appropriate institutional and business environments with the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the government, public prosecutors, as well as regulatory agencies, institutes, non-governmental organizations, confederations and trade associations. Creating partnerships, building win-win relationships, and dialoguing with diversity is the Ibá way. It also participates in nearly 100 multi-stakeholder coordination platforms, and even holds council seats and positions of leadership.
As part of the organization's objectives to defend the interests of the sector, Ibá participates in relevant negotiations, meetings, conferences and hearings, and associates with other Brazilian and international organizations. It has a range of partnerships and associations to expand and amplify the voice of the sector in these efforts. Ibá is active in nearly 100 organizations and forums, and stands out for its leading role in many of these spaces which includes seats on the board or management leadership.
In the international sphere, Ibá actively participates in multi-stakeholder platforms, international negotiations and private sector forums and councils. The main topics addressed at the international level are sustainability standards and certifications, legal agreements and regulations, infrastructure for foreign trade, trade defense, climate change and carbon markets, biodiversity, innovation, promoting forest products within the context of global challenges and promoting sustainable forest management in its various forms.
