The Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) is the national association responsible for institutional representation of the production chain that plants trees for industrial and restoration purposes, focusing on its interests and adding value to its products and services. This work takes place together with government officials and agencies, entities from the planted tree production chain, and significant sectors of the economy, social and environmental organizations, universities, schools, consumers and the press, both domestically and internationally.
Founded in April 2014, Ibá represents over 50 companies and nine state forest associations. This sector is taking a leading role in the large-scale bioeconomy, offering essential solutions for a world that needs to decarbonize with ecosystem services and products from renewable sources that are recyclable, biodegradable and can be properly disposed of after use.
With innovation and an eye to the future, the Brazilian planted tree sector positions the country as a global reference in the production of pulp, paper, laminates and charcoal for the steel industry, and also supplies the world with food, renewable energy, and over 5,000 sustainable bioproducts. Its forest base serves as the origin of both items from wood as well as a wide range of non-timber items including viscose for the textile industry, honey, disinfectants, flavorings, solvents, dyes, fabrics, glues, waxes, packaging, furniture, diapers, and much more. By making the concept of the bioeconomy a reality, this sector demonstrates that planted trees are the future for raw materials that are recyclable, renewable, and friendly to the environment, biodiversity, and human life.
With the advancement of innovation and continuous investment in research and development, this sector is bringing the bioeconomy to life. Thousands of sustainable bioproducts are a part of consumers’ daily lives.
Ibá’s mission is linked to our firm belief that planted trees are the future of raw materials that are renewable, recyclable, and friendly to the environment, biodiversity, and human life.

Ibá is founded on the value of competitiveness held by a newly emerging sector: the planted tree industry. Its natural resources and prosperity of its territories are fundamental to ensure the longevity and success of our business. We care for both nature and people, guided by an intelligent and sustainable vision of business. We make ongoing investments in innovation to transform cutting-edge science and technology into concrete results. We bring the future into the present, and design it to last. The planted tree sector is the future.
For indigenous peoples as well as for us, the word ibá means fruit in several senses. Economically, it encompasses the wealth derived from trees, such as wood, cellulose and biomass; socially, it promotes keeping people in the countryside, productive training and human and social development; and environmentally, it refers to the recovery of degraded areas, carbon capture and the conservation of natural forests and their biodiversity.
