MDP is a reconstituted wood panel, like MDF and HDF. MDP stands for medium-density particleboard. The particles are positioned differently, with larger pieces placed in the center and finer ones positioned along the outer surfaces, forming three layers. They are bonded and compacted together with synthetic resin using pressure and heat in a cutting-edge continuous press. MDP is the result of progress in continuous press technology, and is part of the new generation of medium-density particle boards.
Characteristics
MDP is a homogeneous panel with significant dimensional stability (in terms of width, length and thickness) that is very resistant to bending and holds screws fast.
Uses and Applications
Because of its characteristics, MDP is especially recommended for furniture manufacture and carpentry, to produce commercial and residential furniture involving right angles. Its main applications include straight doors, side walls of furniture, shelving units, partitions, straight tabletops, post-formed table tops, and all faces of drawer components. To best use this product, it is important that front-facing surfaces as well as all edges of the panel be covered with a finish, even those edges or faces which are not visible.
