Hardboard panels are produced from wood fibers bonded together in a process involving heat, time and pressure. They are not treated with synthetic resin, since they are hot pressed in a wet process that reactivates the wood’s natural binder, lignin. The result is a very dense flat board that can offer various options for coatings and finishes.
Characteristics
Hardboard is a highly dense panel that is physically and chemically resistant, making it possible to use top-notch finishings. These boards can be stamped, curved, molded, machined, sheared and painted.
Uses and Applications
Hardboard is one of the most versatile types of panel. It is indicated for production of home and office furniture, cabinet and drawer bottoms, packaging goods from a variety of industries for storage on pallets, dividing panels, and in applications in the automotive, packaging, toy, sound/image, fruit/vegetable and construction sectors. In order to ensure the quality, performance, and durability of the wood panels sold in Brazil, Ibá maintains the Sectoral Program on MDF and MDP Quality, with governmental recognition from the Ministry of Cities.
